Scotch Plains Vintage Resort Canvas
Brand 1865 Company
Our beautiful 18 x 24 x 3/4 in. gallery-style wrap canvas illustration depicts a stunning woman swinging a golf club at Shady Rest Country Club, the nation's first African-American country club. The resort's pro, John Shippen, was the first African-American golf professional, leading the 1892 U.S. Open in the final round before finishing fifth. The Shady Rest clubhouse hosted Cab Calloway and other greats as a local center for African-American culture in the 1920s and 1930s. It is preserved today as the Scotch Hills Municipal course. Our African American pin-up art is an ingenious way to add style, character and a touch of history to your room. This work is Giclee printed directly to an art grade canvas and comes framed and shipped ready to hang.
