Charles Drew Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Charles Drew Memorial Scholarship Fund (CDMSF) is a 501(c) 3 that was established to offers college scholarships to deserving high school seniors with financial need, who display academic excellence, strong citizenship and character, and a desire to make a meaningful contribution to their community and society. Quite simply, our organization’s purpose is to raise money to fund scholarships for students in Prince George’s County, Maryland.
CDMSF also has an alliance with Project ENRICH, a 20-year-old free program in Prince George's County, Maryland that takes 9th graders and begins preparing them for college. The program walks these students and their families through the entire process all the way up until high school graduation.
Over the past three decades, CDMSF has awarded more than $867,000 in college scholarships. While that is an impressive overall figure, it only amounts to approximately $1,500 per scholarship based on an average of 17 awards annually. We know that every little bit helps, but we want to do more and believe we can do more. We would like to move our organization to a level where we can give more meaningful awards -- perhaps into the tens of thousands --for each student. We do not just want to make a difference. We want to make a huge difference!
